Bluebird Tea Co have already got an amazing range of flavoured matchas available, but a couple weeks ago they released three brand spanking new flavours: Ice Cream, Chilli Kale & SALTED CARAMEL! I saw Bluebird hinting at these new matchas on Insta a while ago and I almost did a full blown table flip when I saw that Salted Caramel on their Insta story, I was so goddamn excited. Needless to say these beauteas lived up to my expectations, Salted Caramel & Ice Cream are quickly sneaking up on Gingernut in the rankings of my favourite matchas, Salted Caramel was instantly my favourite of the three, though I've been drinking it iced most of the time, I can already see it being the perfect matcha for cold autumn/winter mornings, the perfect matcha kick wrapped in a warm, comforting hug. My favourite thing to do on a Sunday morning is to treat myself to a special breakfast (something that isn't cereal), so a couple of Sundays ago, it was raining outside, we were bordering putting the heating on (in AUGUST wtf England ), I was in full on grumpy autumn mode. I thought it was best for me to try and cheer up by doing what I do best, eating. I don't think I have ever made french toast but for some reason, I felt that that Sunday was the day that should change. I very nearly reached for my trusty Gingernut matcha to use in this recipe, but then a lightbulb switched on above my head and reminded me that I had a full tub of Salted Caramel Matcha, and that is how I came up with this recipe for Salted Caramel French Toast!Ingredients:2 slices of wholemeal bread 1 medium egg1 perfect matcha spoon of Salted Caramel Matcha 1 perfect matcha teaspoon of cinnamon Any toppings you like! (I opted for a banana & salted caramel syrup) 1) Whisk the matcha and cinnamon into the egg until the mixture is a caramel colour and all the powder is dissolved2) Place a large frying pan on a medium heat, then add cooking oil or spray 3) Place your first slice of bread in the egg mixture, making sure that it is totally soaked before you flip it over to coat the other side4) Pop your bread into the frying pan and fry until golden on both sides5) Repeat with the other slice (I limited myself to only 2 but could definitely have eaten about 10 slices)6) Plate up your french toast and top with anything you like!
